Martin Farms actually began as a seed in Kenneth Martin's thoughts while living in Seattle, Washington during the early 1990s. He watched the small Christmas tree farm at the foot of the hill from where the Martins lived. For years, Kenneth had wondered if he could ever make anything grow on land.   He had the interest, but never the opportunity. 

The desire was to find something close enough to Houston so the metro population would support the business, but far enough out to remain in the country. Bellville, Texas was decided as the perfect location after a drive around the small town's quaint downtown square.  

December 2000 was the first selling season. Customers walked the property in search of their perfect Christmas tree.   Wreaths were made, decorated and sold from a small corner of the primary building. Mrs. Claus sat in her sleigh in the corner opposite of the wreath area. She met with each child giving them a candy cane and checking Santa's official Good Kids Book for every name. A limited concession area was available, and a small gift shop was stocked with goodies.   All this was in 800 square feet of space.

Today the Jingle Bell Express is full of children as the train encircles the North Pole. The North Pole Gourmet & Gift at Martin Farms is open weekends year 'round. The North Pole is grand central on the farm. It houses an ice cream parlor, bakery, restaurant and displays of extraordinary gifts. Wreaths, gourmet gift baskets, and gift wrap take place in their own building, the Elves Workshop.  

Also at Martin Farms you can take the Texas Department of Public Safety Concealed Handgun Classes which are taught by Kenneth Martin, Certified Concealed Handgun Instructor. The classes are at Martin Farms monthly excluding December. Classroom and pistol range are located on Martin Farms. New License class fee is $100.00 and Renewal class is $70.00.
